About Us

Kathy Thompson is the owner of Senior Care Authority for the Pittsburgh area of Allegheny and Westmoreland counties. She became a Certified Senior Advisor to help families and seniors navigate the broad, confusing, and stressful decisions regarding senior living options. From her mother’s fight with cancer, she has learned that life can change instantly. Her mission is to help families get the necessary resources and information they need in a timely fashion to be able to make the best educated decision for their elder parent or loved ones.

In the 1990’s, Kathy was busy working for corporate America and raising two young daughters. After having problems with her girls adjusting to the new preschools, Kathy made the decision to open a reputable franchise pre-school in her area, which she operated for the next five years. Her center won the highest awards four out of the five years she owned it. The reason was simple - because she knew as a parent what she was looking for with her children, and many parents felt the same way!

For the last decade, Kathy was a loan officer and recruiter for a national mortgage lender. When her mother became sick, suddenly her was in unchartered waters as to where to find the resources to help her mother. Since her mother’s passing, she understands what an emotional and educational ride future families will be facing when an abrupt health change happens to a parent. Kathy wants to be a resource to help those families navigate the many options available. “I am still helping families; however instead of finding them the right mortgage or job match, I am assisting them in making the right decisions for loved ones facing a new chapter of life. I enjoy getting to know my clients, listening to their needs, and helping them find the answers they are seeking.”

Kathy’s work and life experiences allow her to be uniquely qualified. Her genuine love and respect for seniors is what inspires her, and she feels privileged to work on their behalf as an advocate and consultant.
