Senior Care Advisor

Kathy Thompson, a business graduate from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University, is the owner of Senior Care Authority for the Pittsburgh area of Allegheny and Westmoreland counties. She became a Certified Senior Advisor to help families and seniors navigate the broad, confusing, and stressful decisions regarding senior living and care options. From her mother’s fight with cancer, she has learned that life can change instantly. Her mission is to help these families get the necessary resources and information they need to make the best educated decision for their loved ones.

Before her mother’s illness, Kathy had never heard of a “Senior Care Advisor”, however with a generation of Baby Boomers aging rapidly, families need to know where to turn to receive personalized assistance in locating the best senior living and care options. Usually she matches a senior living community with the seniors’ needed level of care, their budget, and location. However she can also direct the family to many other senior resources depending on their needs. For placement, Kathy’s service is free, except for skilled nursing. She enjoys helping the family save time and money, while reducing their stress. Everyone wants to make the best decision for their parents, but they aren’t sure where to turn. Kathy can be that resource.

Your Advisor will meet with you in person to discuss your options and then accompany you on visits to places that meet your criteria. We ensure that all your questions are answered, and assist with paperwork and negotiations. The hallmark of our service commitment is that we are by your side every step of the way.

We are paid a referral fee by the communities and care homes so there is no cost to you for our placement services. In the rare case where we are not contracted with a community, your Advisor will let you know at the outset and explain any fees that might be incurred, should you choose that location. You can expect total transparency from us and we respect your right to choose.

Company History

Senior Care Authority

Senior Care Authority® was founded in 2009 by Frank and Michele Samson of Sonoma, California. They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. They came to the Senior Care space with successful business development skills in their past as well as personal family experience finding care solutions. The business took off, primarily due to their diligence, compassion, and commitment to helping families.
