Don Minter has found great satisfaction in helping guide seniors and their families to excellent outcomes. Don’s compassion was unparalleled during his 11 years as a food and beverage director in a continuing care retirement community. It was there where he developed his love for working with the residents and their families to ensure the best experience possible.
Why SCA? Don has firsthand knowledge of many of the struggles that families have in placing their loved one in the proper communities with the proper care. All needs are different, and Don’s goal is to know the systems inside and out, and to be able to help families make informed decisions. Don is a Certified Senior Advisor which arms him with the most current information and continuing education to help families navigate all of the complexities of today’s senior care.

With over three decades of experience as a registered pharmacist, including more than ten years specializing in long-term care pharmacy, I understand the healthcare needs of seniors from a unique clinical perspective. Throughout my career, I’ve worked directly with nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and the families navigating complex medication management and care decisions for their loved ones.
My journey into senior living advocacy became deeply personal after Don and I faced the challenges of helping our own aging parents find appropriate care. We quickly realized that families need more than just a list of communities —they need a trusted guide who understands both the healthcare landscape and the emotional complexities of this transition. This experience inspired us to create a resource where our combined expertise could help other families navigate this often overwhelming process with confidence and clarity.

Your Advisor will meet with you in person to discuss your options and then accompany you on visits to places that meet your criteria. We ensure that all your questions are answered, and assist with paperwork and negotiations. The hallmark of our service commitment is that we are by your side every step of the way.

We are paid a referral fee by the communities and care homes so there is no cost to you for our placement services. In the rare case where we are not contracted with a community, your Advisor will let you know at the outset and explain any fees that might be incurred, should you choose that location. You can expect total transparency from us and we respect your right to choose.

Senior Care Authority

Senior Care Authority® was founded in 2009 by Frank and Michele Samson of Sonoma, California. They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. They came to the Senior Care space with successful business development skills in their past as well as personal family experience finding care solutions. The business took off, primarily due to their diligence, compassion, and commitment to helping families.

Founder and CEO, Frank Samson launched Senior Care Authority® in 2009 with our first location in Sonoma County, California. Previously, Frank built a concierge travel-based franchise into a premier global brand with over 75 franchise owners. With his 20 years of expertise in the franchise industry and a passion to help families and their aging loved ones, Frank identified a need in the senior industry for a concierge approach to help families through challenging and stressful circumstances.
