Jim Kappelman – Owner & Senior Advisor

Jim Kappelman is the owner and operator of Senior Care Authority of Central North Carolina, serving families in Pittsboro, Asheboro, High Point, Greensboro, and Burlington. He brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, where he worked in highly regulated, complex environments requiring precision, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making—skills he now applies to guiding families through senior care decisions.

Jim’s passion for senior advocacy is deeply personal. After helping his own parents navigate the complexities of aging and care, he recognized how overwhelming the process can be for families and committed himself to helping others avoid unnecessary stress and missteps. He is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and a Certified Dementia Professional (CDP), equipping him to support families facing both immediate and long-term care challenges.

Beyond his professional role, Jim is actively involved in his community and has spent many years volunteering through his church and local nonprofit organizations. His approach is grounded in compassion, clarity, and advocacy—ensuring families feel supported, informed, and confident as they make decisions for their loved ones.

Amy Kappelman is the co-owner of Senior Care Authority of Central North Carolina, where she helps seniors and their families navigate the often overwhelming process of finding the right care and living options. With a compassionate, detail-oriented approach, Amy supports families through assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing decisions, ensuring they feel informed and supported every step of the way. She is especially passionate about easing stress for families during difficult transitions and connecting them with trusted local resources. Amy is committed to serving the Central North Carolina community with integrity, empathy, and personalized guidance.

Your Advisor will meet with you in person to discuss your options and then accompany you on visits to places that meet your criteria. We ensure that all your questions are answered, and assist with paperwork and negotiations. The hallmark of our service commitment is that we are by your side every step of the way.

We are paid a referral fee by the communities and care homes so there is no cost to you for our placement services. In the rare case where we are not contracted with a community, your Advisor will let you know at the outset and explain any fees that might be incurred, should you choose that location. You can expect total transparency from us and we respect your right to choose.

Senior Care Authority

Senior Care Authority® was founded in 2009 by Frank and Michele Samson of Sonoma, California. They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. They came to the Senior Care space with successful business development skills in their past as well as personal family experience finding care solutions. The business took off, primarily due to their diligence, compassion, and commitment to helping families.

Founder and CEO, Frank Samson launched Senior Care Authority® in 2009 with our first location in Sonoma County, California. Previously, Frank built a concierge travel-based franchise into a premier global brand with over 75 franchise owners. With his 20 years of expertise in the franchise industry and a passion to help families and their aging loved ones, Frank identified a need in the senior industry for a concierge approach to help families through challenging and stressful circumstances.
