Senior Care Advisor

Mickey and his beautiful wife Treva have walked through the end-of-life experience with all four of their parents. Two of them died in skilled nursing facilities, one in hospice, and one passed away at home after eight years of in-home care.

His career includes over forty years of clinical and administrative experience in the public, private for-profit, and private not-for-profit sectors, serving those with developmental disabilities and/or mental health issues. Within the private sector, he built or helped to build three service companies, ranging from a small not-for-profit agency serving about thirty individuals in community settings, to a relatively large for-profit company serving up to 480 individuals in group homes serving developmentally disabled children and adults. As a result, Mickey has a broad knowledge of clinical needs, federal and state regulatory requirements, financial necessities, and operational matters. Over the years, he learned a lot about long term care, and either discovered or developed a heart for helping others. He has brought peace of mind and resources to countless families. Mickey is excited to use his experience to support those who face difficult care decisions related to aging loved ones.

During twenty years of this forty-year career, Mickey also served as the administrator of a medium-sized church. Within this capacity, he was blessed with many opportunities to assist senior church members in navigating the complex aspects of aging.

Mickey and Treva live in Winston-Salem, NC. Their loving attention is focused on their granddaughter, cats, and flowers, and they cherish their many years of active participation in their church community.

Senior Care Advisor visiting and going over information with senior clients

Your Advisor will meet with you in person to discuss your options and then accompany you on visits to places that meet your criteria. We ensure that all your questions are answered, and assist with paperwork and negotiations. The hallmark of our service commitment is that we are by your side every step of the way.

We are paid a referral fee by the communities and care homes so there is no cost to you for our placement services. In the rare case where we are not contracted with a community, your Advisor will let you know at the outset and explain any fees that might be incurred, should you choose that location. You can expect total transparency from us and we respect your right to choose.

Company History

Senior Care Authority

Senior Care Authority® was founded in 2009 by Frank and Michele Samson of Sonoma, California. They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. They came to the Senior Care space with successful business development skills in their past as well as personal family experience finding care solutions. The business took off, primarily due to their diligence, compassion, and commitment to helping families.
