LISA ISBELL

Based in Glen Allen, VA

Lisa Isbell is the owner of Senior Care Authority (SCA) of Central Virginia, and a frequent speaker on senior living and aging topics. She and her team have worked with countless families and older adults to help them navigate care and living needs since opening SCA in 2017.

Following a career in financial services and church administration, Lisa opened Senior Care Authority of Central Virginia after experiencing the transitioning care needs of her own parents. Knowing that finding the right care and living options for loved ones can be stressful and frustrating, Lisa and her team work patiently with families, educating them on the many options available in Central Virginia. Working with a wide range of experts and local resources, Lisa and her team help make the transition to care a smooth one for seniors and their families.

Lisa received her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and her graduate degree from the University of Richmond. She is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), as well as a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), and a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Lisa is an instructor with the Osher Institute at the University of Richmond, and serves as a Community Educator with the Alzheimer’s Association. She and her husband, Scott, have two children in college and a large, loving labradoodle that has no sense of personal space.

Kate Turner has both personal and professional experience working with older adults and those with dementia. Seeking support for herself and others, she partnered with the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association to create a "Younger Caregivers" support group. This group brings together individuals sandwiched between caring for aging parents and raising children. The group works together to brainstorm creative solutions to challenging issues, share resources, and lend overall support. Kate also works closely with the Joyful Voices Chorus, a community chorus for singers with Alzheimer's and Dementia and their caregivers. Kate's passion for senior advocacy brought her to the role of Elder Care Advisor.

A graduate of Mary Washington College, Kate formerly served as a corporate Community Relations Project Manager. She also has a background in Volunteer Management and Data Management. Her personal experience, compassion, and strong organizational skills offers just the right combination when working with families and older adults. Originally from the Eastern Shore of Virginia, Kate loves all things nautical. She enjoys traveling with her husband and two sons whenever possible.

Company History

Senior Care Authority

Senior Care Authority® was founded in 2009 by Frank and Michele Samson of Sonoma, California. They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. They came to the Senior Care space with successful business development skills in their past as well as personal family experience finding care solutions. The business took off, primarily due to their diligence, compassion, and commitment to helping families.
