Cara Lapic loves helping seniors and their families! Let her and her team help you. She wants to get to know your family and your unique situation and connect you with solutions that enable your family to thrive.

Senior Care Authority North Pittsburgh is in its third year of business helping families. Over the years, we have helped many families along their journey, connecting them with elder law attorneys, realtors, financial and medical professionals, home care and home health professionals and a myriad of others resources too numerous to list. Many of our clients are seeking assistance with finding residential living options (e.g., Independent Living, Assisted Living / Personal Care and Memory Care). We make it our business to know the communities well and to understand their unique cultures and areas of expertise. We work hard to align individual preferences and needs to help ensure success for the family.

Cara has been called “a nerd”! She is constantly studying and learning new things to support the families that she partners with. She spent almost thirty years in the financial services industry doing analytical and consultative work. She has her doctorate in Information Systems and Communications and several certifications in the senior space – Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), Certified Dementia Practitioner and is a Beyond Driving with Dignity Professional. She tells the families that the more that they share, the more she can help – and she means that. We each have a journey unique to our family – Cara understands that solutions are not a “one size fits all”.

She appreciates being part of the the national Senior Care Authority Network with similarly driven and trained professionals who serve throughout the United States. She is happy to connect you with resources in your area.

Cara lives in the North Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania with her husband, Dan, two girls, Maizie Elle and Evelina Shae, two Bengal cats, Remy and Luna and a Dachshund, Ms. Molly. In her free time, Cara spends time with family and friends, and is always studying and learning new things!

Jen Brown

Senior Advisor

Jen Brown is thrilled to join the team at the North Pittsburgh Senior Care Authority. For more than twenty years, she has had the privilege of working with her favorite population—seniors. Jen began her career in her early twenties when she joined the team at a local senior living community as a caregiver. It was there that she quickly realized serving older adults was her true calling, and she has been dedicated to supporting seniors and their families ever since.

Throughout her career, Jen has gained a broad range of experience, including roles as a hospice consultant, home health educator, and leader within senior living communities. Her work as a caregiver, Activities Director, and Sales and Marketing Director—along with helping open two senior living communities—has given her a well-rounded perspective on what matters most to residents and their families. She understands that navigating care decisions can be overwhelming and emotional, and she is passionate about guiding families through the process with compassion and clarity.

Having spent the majority of her career working in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, Jen has developed a deep understanding of the local resources and care options available. She is committed to helping each client identify the best next step while supporting both the individual and their family every step of the way.

Originally from Canton, Ohio, Jen has proudly called Pittsburgh home for the past twenty-two years. She and her husband, Aaron, have been married for more than twenty years and enjoy traveling together—especially to warm destinations. They are the proud parents of two wonderful sons, Sam (18) and Caleb (15), who are currently a senior and freshman at Hampton High School. In her free time, Jen enjoys reading, taking walks with her pup Hank, and cheering on her boys at their football and lacrosse games.

Your Advisor will meet with you in person to discuss your options and then accompany you on visits to places that meet your criteria. We ensure that all your questions are answered, and assist with paperwork and negotiations. The hallmark of our service commitment is that we are by your side every step of the way.

We are paid a referral fee by the communities and care homes so there is no cost to you for our placement services. In the rare case where we are not contracted with a community, your Advisor will let you know at the outset and explain any fees that might be incurred, should you choose that location. You can expect total transparency from us and we respect your right to choose.

Company History

Senior Care Authority

Senior Care Authority® was founded in 2009 by Frank and Michele Samson of Sonoma, California. They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. They came to the Senior Care space with successful business development skills in their past as well as personal family experience finding care solutions. The business took off, primarily due to their diligence, compassion, and commitment to helping families.

About Us

Founder and CEO, Frank Samson launched Senior Care Authority® in 2009 with our first location in Sonoma County, California. Previously, Frank built a concierge travel-based franchise into a premier global brand with over 75 franchise owners. With his 20 years of expertise in the franchise industry and a passion to help families and their aging loved ones, Frank identified a need in the senior industry for a concierge approach to help families through challenging and stressful circumstances.
