They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. I am a certified senior advisor, CSA, working with families and seniors to help assure them of receiving the best living and care solutions. I have helped hundreds of families find the best senior living solution, get the answers and information they need so they can make educated decisions and establish well thought out plans.
I was born, raised and currently reside in the same Long Island town in which I grew up. I spend much of my time visiting and reviewing Long Island's senior communities — including assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing facilities — to help my clients make the best possible decision for their loved ones. I meet one-on-one with families to assess their needs. I accompany them on visits to top-rated facilities, assist with negotiations and paperwork, and follow up with families after a placement is made. If the timing isn't right for moving into a senior living community, I will help the caregiver, family, and senior understand all of the options available to them.
I know how stressful it can be to search for the right care and the best place to live for a loved one in crisis. The abundance of options, establishing budgets, identifying the specific needs and all of the paperwork required can make the process overwhelming.
When my uncle Walter was released from the hospital into a rehab facility, as his primary caregiver I was given a list of options -- home care companies and assisted living communities and sent on my way. The more places we visited and the more companies we interviewed the more confused we felt.
It was difficult to keep the details of each conversation, company, and community straight. We needed someone to take us by the hand and explain which option would best fit Walter's needs.
I later went through similar processes with my mom, Carol and my father-in-law, Mark. Each time learning more about the process and each time wishing I had assistance in navigating these daunting tasks.
I am the sponsorship chairperson for multiple Alzheimer's Association committees, an active committee member of the Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center, a participating member in the Senior Umbrella Network, National Aging In Place Council, Geriatric Practitioners of New York, Orion Resource Group and the Accountants Resource Group.
Myself and my family are active fundraisers for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Alzheimer's Association, Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center, Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center, National MS Society and many local charities.
After 10 plus years of coaching youth soccer, baseball and football I decided to focus my efforts on coaching families in finding the best places for their loved ones to live and receive the proper care. When not striving to make a difference in seniors’ lives, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. As a fan of fresh air and the outdoors, my wife Ilyse, sons Rob and Brian and I spend time skiing in Vermont, golfing on Long Island, going to Robert Moses and Fire Island or barbecuing in preparation for watching Sunday football.
