Brookdale Medina South in Medina

My father spent three years at Brookdale Medina South (8/2018-9/2021). My experience and Dad's experience was wonderful. The staff were all kind and caring. There was always something going on for Dad and sometimes me to enjoy. Dad was living at Medina South at the beginning of the pandemic. I appreciated the steps the staff took to keep all residence and staff safe. Brookdale went above and beyond to make it possible for me to stay in touch with Dad during those scary and frustrating times. If there ever was a concern or issue (very few times) - Barb Berndt and her staff addressed and solved it right away. I'm very pleased with my experience with Brookdale Medina South. It was the perfect place for Dad to spend his life's final chapter.

My 93-year-old uncle has lived at Brookdale Medina South for about ten months. I have been more than pleased with our experience there. The staff members – the facility director, the administrative staff, the nursing staff, the aides, the dining and maintenance staffs and the concierge associates – are all attentive, caring and responsive to any needs he has or questions and concerns I have. I have seen how they work together as a team to care for the residents and support each other. Whether I approach a staff member in person or by telephone, my concerns are addressed professionally and promptly. I have never heard anyone there say “that’s not my job”; that refreshing tone is set at the top of the organization. My wife and I drop in at various times during the day and during the week, and my uncle is always dressed and groomed, his clothes are clean and his bed is made. The dining room is very inviting, and the chef and dining staff go to great effort to make sure each resident’s tastes and dietary needs are met. The nursing staff makes sure that any changes in medical needs or conditions that my uncle has are promptly and fully communicated to the family, and doctors are contacted and/or visit as appropriate. Brookdale Medina South offers a full schedule of resident activities, including regular exercise sessions, game times, and religious and social activities. In addition, my uncle is a World War II veteran, and we are very impressed with the continuing recognition and respect that Brookdale extends to the residents there that have served our country in the Armed Forces. I take great comfort in knowing that my uncle is safe, clean, and well-cared for in every respect at Brookdale Medina South, and I have no hesitation in recommending Brookdale Medina South to others who need a place for their loved one to be cared for.

My mother-in-law has been at Brookdale South for one year now. I have been constantly impressed by the wonderful care she has been getting. The staff is caring and friendly. The rooms are roomy and cozy. The common areas don’t feel like an institution. There are daily activities and the food is great. Family members can come and dine. I highly recommend this place.

Mom is beginning her 7th year at Brookdale and we are very happy and pleased with her care. The director, Barb Berndt, and staff, are professional and compassionate and show concern in all that they do. The facilities are impeccable and a joy to visit. Mom has adjusted well. We thank them all.
