Sharon Whitlock

Sharon Whitlock knows what it’s like to move a parent to a care facility, then wonder if you’ve made the right decision. After her mother’s Alzheimer’s progressed to the point where she could no longer be cared for in a residence care home, Sharon and her sister relocated her to a memory care facility.

“Searching for the right care community was stressful in itself, but after we placed her I worried whether she’d be happy or if she would adjust well in her new home,” Sharon said. “As we worked to get her acclimated, adding personal touches like family pictures, and hanging her clothing; I overheard her say to another resident, ‘I feel good, I just can’t remember anything,’ and I knew she’d be okay.”

Recently Sharon experienced her brother going through memory impairment. Again, she and her family went through the stress of finding the right place. This fueled her desire to help others in locating the appropriate facilities based on the needs and resources available. In an effort to help other families avoid the stress and uncertainty she experienced, Sharon opened a Senior Care Authority franchise serving Northwest Atlanta, Ga.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the Dialysis industry, serving seniors with renal failure as a Registered Nurse and Regional Operations Director, Sharon brings a legacy of caring and compassion to her role as Senior Care Advisor. Her mission: “To provide the best service to families using my head, heart and hands.”

Sharon is passionate about “helping seniors age well. They are deserving of the best we can offer,” she says. “Our most valuable and cherished asset is our home, and it’s the same focus we embrace as we get older. Finding the perfect home is a crucial component in the care continuum.”

As a Senior Care Advisor, Sharon has completed Senior Care Authority’s extensive training program and has spent an enormous amount of time and energy inspecting locations, meeting with staff, and reviewing State reports for citations and complaints.

Sharon meets one-on-one with seniors and families to assess their needs. She then accompanies them on tours of pre-approved facilities, assists with negotiations, paperwork, and follows up with seniors and families to ensure the facilities and treatment plans are meeting their expectations. If there are problems, she serves as the client’s staunch advocate and makes sure all the necessary corrections are made to the client’s satisfaction.

Sharon offers her services at no charge to families, as she typically is compensated by the community the family selects.

When not helping seniors and families, the Powder Springs resident enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending church, and rooting for The Atlanta Falcons and The Hawks. Sharon is an avid sports enthusiast; you really don’t want to block her view of the T.V. when she is watching her teams perform. She brings even more tenacity and compassion to her work with clients as she helps them navigate the tedious terrain to find the best facilities and care available.
