John and Tracy Pharris have found the perfect fit as new owners of Senior Care Authority, Long Beach Metro. This service area includes: Artesia, Bellflower, Carson, Cerritos, Compton, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Lynwood, Paramount, San Pedro, Santa Fe Springs, Signal Hill, South Gate and Wilmington.
Senior Care Authority provides hands-on assistance to families and seniors seeking the best senior living and care options at independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and residential care facilities.
John Pharris is from California with Southern rooted parents that migrated from Birmingham, Alabama. John learned life lessons early on from his parents and grandparents as they would share stories recounting the charm of southern living as well as the challenges. Understanding how his elders persevered and ultimately, successfully realized their American dream with such grace crafted John’s respectful vision of seniors from those similarly constituted generations that he honors. Experiences involving simultaneous care needs, challenges and life changes of senior family members including eight years in a skilled nursing facility, a sudden fatal stroke, two years assisted living and memory care, a respite and ultimate hospice care for Parkinson’s disease as well as a deceased 60 year old breast cancer champion and 85 year old breast cancer survivor have all contributed to John’s understanding, attitude and approach towards serving seniors and their families.
John is a graduate of the University of Illinois and before professionally assisting seniors, John has worked in network television news as a sports segment producer, Multimedia Systems Integration Consultant, Instructional Technologies Manager, Learning Environments Support Supervisor and Senior Project manager. For over two decades he and his teams served the FOX affiliate in Chicago WFLD, 2 Fortune 100 companies, the University of Southern California, Cedars Sinai Hospital and the California State University system.
Currently working towards his Senior Advisor Certification, John is now focused entirely on serving seniors in his local community within the Long Beach Metro area of Los Angeles County. His personal life experiences dealing with sensitive living, care concerns of his family members coupled with his professional background of providing world class services, have prepared John to assist families in making informed, mutually agreed understanding, provide support and resources through a difficult transition with a loved one to achieve a successful resolution.
“For a period of time my wife and I were faced with being the primary caregivers for our parents. While looking for solutions for their care we often felt alone in a wilderness of senior care options, programs, definitions etc. and we pretty much did all of the work and research ourselves. It would have been great to have someone on our side with our best interests at heart to provide some informed insight and direction as well as some much needed support during those times. Through Senior Care Authority, I want to provide the same high level of guidance, service, support and advocacy that we would’ve been grateful to receive during our times of decision making with our parents.”
“During that time we managed to provide as much care and support as possible to those family members while looking for longer term support and placement solutions on our own – as there were no companies that offer solutions to clients like SCA,” says John.
While touring and reviewing the local living communities — including assisted living, independent living, dementia and memory care, and residential care homes, to help his clients make the best possible decision for their loved ones, John completes detailed reports of each residence that he shares with families in order to assist them with their crucial placement decisions. In his role as Senior Care Advisor, John meets one-on-one with families to assess their needs, schedules and accompanies them on tours of pre-approved communities, including assisted living – assists with negotiations and paperwork, and always follows up to make sure his clients are thriving in their new living arrangements.
John was born and raised in Carson and Long Beach, and is a graduate of the University of Illinois. His wife, Tracy, is a graduate of California State University at Northridge.
